This year's Russell and Paula Panczenko MFA Prize winner, Anwar Floyd-Pruitt, discusses his show, "SUPERNOVA: Charlotte and Gene’s Radical Imagination Station", which is opening on October 13th. 2020- March 1st, 2021, in an "Our Kind of Happy Hour lecture" on the Facebook page of the Chazen Museum of Art at University of Wisconsin at Madison page and it was just livestreamed. I was fortunate to have been able to attend.

I am just fresh from a great lecture on art and process and meaning with Anwar Floyd-Pruitt's insights into his art. The accessibility of materials used and the creativity of the collage and process was really fascinating to hear about, especially his work with chidren and his own childhood. I was so happy to attend and Anwar and I once worked together as marketing interns and me as a regional director (middle management) of the internship program. Anwar was always creative. He even invited us to a comedy night he starred in back then.

"...Floyd-Pruitt served as visual arts coordinator for the therapeutic arts nonprofit organization Express Yourself Milwaukee. His recent projects include a body of work encouraging students to vote, a gun violence memorial sculpture garden, co-producing an interdepartmental performance art showcase, and leading puppet-making workshops at Madison area schools and arts organizations. His work Black Pain, an abstract trio of assemblage wall pieces, was featured in the Milwaukee Art Museum in 2013 in conjunction with 30 Americans." Anwar, a Harvard Psychology BA and BFA from UW–Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts, went back to school for his MFA from University of Wisconsin at Madison and really exploded (like a SUPERNOVA) in creativity speaking of his studio bursting at the seems with works he collected from his own efforts. I am so thrilled to announce you can see his work at the Chazen Museum of Art at University of Wisconsin at Madison on October 13th, 2020 through March 1st, 2021.

"Inspired by Wisconsin's beautiful diversity, Anwar's DTour artwork will employ a modular design to create a fantastical flower garden of possibilities." Anwar's 2020 DTour artwork is a collaboration with the Madison Arts Commission.
