Honesdale, PA, a Microcosm of America!

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

In this small city of Honesdale, PA you'll find Democrats and Republicans, you see Black Lives Matter rallies and Trump Supporters rallying in Central Park before the shadow of the Union Soldier Memorial in front of the Wayne County Court House. The whole town has a flair to it, both scenic Main Street and Church Street and an artistic flair too, with galleries and artisans selling chocolates, cheeses, gifts, art, jewelry and more in the quaint shops. This is Main Street America and it is also Walmart and Home Depot big box stores down the road a piece. It is Dinners and Pizza Shops, as well as McDonald's and Taco Bell. It is a microcosm of the economy and some places have been hit hard by the COVID-19 Lockdowns, the "Fiesta on Main" Mexican Restaurant, which served great food at good prices has closed it's doors. Others like Ba & Me, the Vietnamese cuisine restaurant are crowd-funding to stay in the game in a new location after being evicted from their alleyway rental space. It is a time for dynamic creativity and change. Hallmarks of social life like the music in the park in the Summertime were cancelled. The place of "Winter Wonderland" which was written in Honesdale, PA means that the shopping on the streets and the wonder of who will survive this economy without a second stimulus check soon, is on the horizon. It is time to help out the workers and shopkeepers, the restauranteurs and the gallery owners. Christmas and the holidays could make or break some businesses.
